Invoker vs Legion Commander

How this matchup plays

Trying to control a Legion Commander is often a losing battle for Invoker. Her Press the Attack provides a strong dispel, letting her shrug off crowd control like Cold Snap or the disarm from Deafening Blast. This makes it incredibly difficult for Invoker to kite her or set up his combos. Once she gets a Blink Dagger, she can close the distance instantly and lock him down with Duel. Without a dedicated save from his teammates, a solo Invoker caught by Duel is almost always a free kill and a big damage bonus for her.

The game becomes a positioning test for Invoker as soon as Legion Commander finds her core items. He has to play much further back in fights and rely on vision control to avoid getting initiated on. His best bet is to use spells like Tornado and Ice Wall to disrupt her before she can get close, or coordinate with his team for a save. Legion Commander has a simpler objective: wait for an opening, blink on the squishy spellcaster, and win the Duel. This direct approach gives her a consistent, if slight, advantage.
