Invoker vs Primal Beast

How this matchup plays

Trying to run at people with Trample is a frustrating experience against Invoker. A single Tornado can lift Primal Beast, canceling the spell and leaving him stranded and vulnerable. This same problem exists with Invoker's other control spells; Cold Snap repeatedly interrupts the channel, while a well-placed Ice Wall completely stops Primal Beast's momentum. The core of the Beast's game plan is to charge in and stick to targets, but Invoker has a whole arsenal of long-range abilities that are perfectly suited to disrupt that plan from a safe distance.

This advantage is most pronounced in the mid-game, before Primal Beast can buy his key items. His initiations are unreliable, and he struggles to contribute to fights if Invoker is paying attention. The entire matchup pivots once Primal Beast acquires a Black King Bar. With magic immunity active, he can ignore Invoker's control and run straight for the back lines. The fight then becomes about whether Primal Beast can find and lock down Invoker with Pulverize before his BKB duration runs out, forcing Invoker to rely on positioning and his teammates to survive.
