Invoker vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full combo on Puck is a classic test of an Invoker's patience. Puck's Phase Shift can dodge almost every spell in the book, from a long-range Sun Strike to the impact of a Deafening Blast. This forces the Invoker to play around that cooldown or try to bait it out. Invoker’s best tool is often Cold Snap, which can interrupt Puck’s escape attempts and set up for further lockdown. But if Puck anticipates the cast and Phase Shifts the initial hit, they can often slip away, resetting the engagement to neutral.

This dynamic creates a lane that's more about small advantages and resource trading than outright kills. Later in the game, the advantage shifts to whoever gets the jump. An Invoker with an Orchid Malevolence can find a kill easily, but a Puck with a Blink Dagger can initiate with a silence and Dream Coil before Invoker can react. The matchup often comes down to which player better predicts the other's movements and item timings, making it a very close contest from start to finish.
