Invoker vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Catching Invoker out of position is a test of reflexes from both players. A Sand King can try to initiate with Burrowstrike, but a quick Invoker can often cast Tornado to stop the stun or lift him out of Sand Storm. This forces the fight into a stalemate where Sand King is either forced to retreat or wait for a better opening. The invisibility from Sand Storm is a good defensive tool to dodge spells, but it can be countered by area-of-effect spells like Meteor or Ice Wall, preventing Sand King from channeling his own abilities safely.

This dynamic means their interactions are decided by vision and positioning. Throughout the game, Invoker wants to keep his distance and use his global pressure or defensive spells to control the map. Sand King looks for opportunities to get a clean initiation with a Blink Dagger, hoping to land a full Epicenter before Invoker can react with a counter-spell like Deafening Blast.
