Invoker vs Wraith King

How this matchup plays

Blowing a full combo of Deafening Blast, Meteor, and Cataclysm on a single target is how Invoker turns a fight. The problem is that when that target is Wraith King, he gets back up with Reincarnation, and Invoker has nothing left. All of Invoker's long-cooldown, high-impact spells are spent killing one hero who isn't even out of the fight. This directly counters the pick-off potential that Quas/Exort builds rely on, as Wraith King can absorb the entire burst and come back ready to keep going.

Throughout the game, Wraith King can play aggressively, walking at the enemy and daring them to use spells on him. He isn't afraid of getting initiated on because he knows it takes Invoker's entire kit to bring him down the first time. The best Invoker can do is try to ignore him and go for a support in the back, but Wraith King's job is to stand in the way and make that difficult. His own stun can also easily interrupt Invoker's spellcasting, making it even harder to execute combos on anyone else.
