How this matchup plays

Thinking that Invoker's spell arsenal makes this an easy matchup is a common mistake. A single Stasis Trap can completely break up an Invoker's spell combination, leaving him stuck in the open. The silence from Techies' Blast Off! is also a major threat, often arriving at the exact moment Invoker tries to cast a key spell like Deafening Blast. To deal with the minefields, a Quas Exort Invoker relies heavily on his Forge Spirits. Sending them ahead to scout and trigger mines is one of the only safe ways for him to approach an area Techies has prepared.

The mid-game revolves around which hero can better control the map. Techies tries to predict where fights will happen, laying down defensive traps to protect his team and high ground. This forces Invoker's team to play methodically, using the Forge Spirits to clear a path before committing. In return, Invoker is a constant global threat to Techies. A low-health Techies retreating after a big Blast Off! is a prime target for a Sun Strike from anywhere on the map. The engagement often comes down to which hero can dictate the terms of the fight.
