Invoker vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Fights between these two often come down to a duel of initiations. Warlock wants to start a chaotic brawl by dropping his Golem and linking enemies with Fatal Bonds, creating a messy fight that is difficult for a combo-oriented hero to navigate. Invoker, on the other hand, thrives on controlled setups. He can use Tornado to break up Warlock's formation or set up his own spells. A well-timed Chaotic Offering can interrupt Invoker's casting, but a surprise EMP can leave Warlock without the mana needed to even start the fight.

Throughout the game, this dynamic plays out as a battle for positioning. Warlock's team will look for opportunities to force grouped-up fights where his spells get maximum value. In response, Invoker's side will try to find pickoffs or use spells like Ice Wall to split the enemy up. If Invoker can catch Warlock before a fight begins, he can often remove him with a full combo. If Warlock gets his ultimate off cleanly, the fight usually swings in his team's favor, making vision and surprise the deciding factors for both sides.
