Jakiro vs Rubick

How this matchup plays

Picking Jakiro into an open draft is basically daring the enemy to pick Rubick. Every single one of Jakiro’s spells is a high-value steal. Rubick doesn't have to wait for a specific moment; whether he grabs Ice Path, Dual Breath, or the game-changing Macropyre, he's getting a powerful teamfight tool. A stolen Macropyre is often even better than the original, as Rubick can cast it instantly without the long turn time and animation that locks Jakiro in place. This makes Jakiro's signature spells a direct liability.

Throughout the game, this puts Jakiro on the back foot. He is constantly forced to second-guess using his ultimate, knowing a good Rubick is waiting to turn it against his team. To win a fight, Jakiro’s side has to either find and kill Rubick first or try to bait Spell Steal with a less critical ability. A patient Rubick player won’t fall for this, though. He'll use Telekinesis to interrupt key spells or simply wait for the Macropyre, effectively neutralizing Jakiro's biggest contribution.
