Grouping these heroes together as slow, area-of-effect supports is a common mistake. The real difference is in the quality of their lockdown. Shadow Shaman provides instant, reliable disables with Hex and Shackles, which are perfect for locking down and bursting a single target. A target that is hexed is a target that dies. Jakiro, on the other hand, offers a slow from Dual Breath and a delayed stun from Ice Path. These are great for zoning and follow-up, but they give the enemy time to react, making it much harder for Jakiro to initiate a kill on his own.

This dynamic gives Shadow Shaman the edge all game. In lane, his ability to set up kills is far more threatening. Later, his Mass Serpent Wards create immense pressure on objectives. Jakiro is good at defending high ground, but to clear the wards he has to expose himself, creating a perfect opening for a Blink-Hex initiation from Shaman. Jakiro wants to stay safe and cast spells from the back, but Shadow Shaman excels at finding that one hero who steps out of line and deleting them before a fight can even begin.
