Jakiro vs Troll Warlord

How this matchup plays

Trying to kite a Troll Warlord with slow-moving spells is a losing battle. Jakiro's entire kit, from Dual Breath to Macropyre, is based on damage over time and area denial that unfolds over a few seconds. This is a perfect setup for Troll, who can activate Battle Trance to survive the initial burst and simply run through the fire. Jakiro lacks any instant stun or escape mechanism to deal with a hero who decides to ignore his spells and commit to a fight.

This leaves Jakiro as a prime target for Troll Warlord all game. After the laning stage, Troll can often get a BKB and make all of Jakiro's abilities irrelevant for a crucial window. A well-placed Ice Path or a big Macropyre can win fights against other heroes, but against Troll, they often feel like a minor inconvenience he can walk past. For this matchup to work, Jakiro needs his other teammates to provide the hard lockdown he lacks, because he can't stop the Troll himself.
