Jakiro vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Picking Winter Wyvern into a draft is often a direct response to seeing the enemy pick Jakiro. The core problem is Winter's Curse. Jakiro excels by layering his area-of-effect spells like Macropyre and Ice Path, creating a zone where his team can safely deal damage. Winter's Curse completely turns this plan against him by forcing an ally to attack their teammate, often holding them inside the very fire Jakiro created. Even outside of the ultimate, Cold Embrace provides a strong heal that can outpace the damage-over-time from Dual Breath and Liquid Fire, saving a target that would otherwise burn down.

Throughout the game, this makes teamfighting incredibly difficult for Jakiro's side. He wants to land a big Ice Path to set up a fight, but Winter Wyvern can simply use Cold Embrace on the stunned target to negate the follow-up. If Jakiro commits Macropyre, he risks Wyvern using Winter's Curse to make his own carry kill a support right in the middle of it. This forces the Jakiro player into a reactive, cautious posture, trying to bait out Wyvern's abilities first. The Winter Wyvern player, meanwhile, can comfortably hold their spells and wait for the perfect moment to reverse Jakiro's entire initiation.
