Keeper of the Light vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

Trying to follow up on a successful Reverse Polarity can be difficult against Keeper of the Light. The moment Magnus attempts to Skewer his captured targets back to his team, a well-positioned KotL can use Blinding Light to shove him away. This ruins the combo, leaving Magnus isolated while his stunned allies have a chance to recover. The miss chance from the spell further complicates any physical damage follow-up. This entire play depends on Keeper of the Light avoiding the initial stun, however. If Magnus catches KotL in the Reverse Polarity, this defensive potential is gone.

This dynamic defines the matchup. Magnus hunts for an angle to initiate, with Keeper of the Light being a primary target because he’s so fragile. In response, KotL has to play far back, using Illuminate to apply pressure from a safe distance while saving his abilities for counter-initiation. Fights often come down to whether Magnus can successfully jump on and eliminate KotL before he can react. If Magnus fails to find him, KotL’s ability to disrupt the enemy combo and sustain his own team provides a clear advantage.
