Keeper of the Light vs Pugna

How this matchup plays

Casting spells feels dangerous for the entire team when a Nether Ward is active. Pugna creates a massive zone of control that specifically punishes heroes for spending mana, and Keeper of the Light's Illuminate has a famously high mana cost. This means Keeper has to be extremely careful with his positioning, as a single cast can get him killed from the Ward's damage alone. On the other hand, Pugna is a fragile hero who relies on channeling Life Drain. Keeper can easily interrupt this from a long distance with Blinding Light, saving an ally or stopping Pugna's own self-heal.

The matchup revolves around which hero can properly execute their game plan first. Pugna will try to place his Nether Ward in the middle of a fight, forcing Keeper to either stay out of the fight or risk immediate death. Keeper of the Light will play from the edges, looking for an angle to channel his spells from outside the Ward's range or waiting for a chance to push Pugna out of position. Both heroes are prime targets that die quickly when focused, so the outcome often depends on which of them gets initiated on first.
