Keeper of the Light vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Fighting from the back line becomes a liability against Spectre. Her Haunt allows her to completely bypass your team's frontline and appear directly on top of Keeper of the Light. As a squishy hero who relies on positioning, this is a nightmare scenario. If KotL is caught even slightly isolated, Spectre's Desolate will finish him off before help can arrive. Even in a grouped-up fight, trying to burst Spectre with a full Illuminate channel is risky, as Dispersion will reflect a lot of that damage back onto your team, punishing you for focusing her.

This matchup has a clear turning point. Early in the game, Keeper of the Light can dominate the lane, using Illuminate to shove waves and harass Spectre, significantly slowing her farm. Once Spectre gets her core items and ultimate, however, the dynamic flips. KotL is forced to play much more defensively, never straying far from his allies and often needing a Force Staff to survive. The game then becomes about Spectre's hunt for a pickoff on the back line versus KotL's team's ability to protect him and counter-initiate.
