Keeper of the Light vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can out-push a Keeper of the Light with Venomancer is a common mistake. Keeper's Illuminate easily clears entire creep waves and any Plague Wards from a completely safe distance, shutting down the slow-push strategy Venomancer relies on. This is the same reason they don't work well together; one hero wants to stall waves for poison damage, the other wants to instantly delete them. When they're opponents, this dynamic heavily favors Keeper of the Light. Blinding Light also provides a perfect disengage, pushing everyone away after Venomancer commits his Poison Nova and leaving his team unable to finish anyone off.

Across the game, this means Venomancer constantly struggles to apply map pressure. His pushes get reset with a single spell, and defending high ground against him is trivial for the Keeper's team. Venomancer is forced to rely on his ultimate to win teamfights, but even then, Keeper of the Light can use his recall to quickly bring allies back to base to recover from the poison or regroup for a counter-attack. The only real plan for Venomancer is to somehow get a jump directly onto the Keeper himself, but his typical backline positioning makes that nearly impossible.
