Keeper of the Light vs Zeus

How this matchup plays

Pushing a lane with Illuminate puts a ton of pressure on Zeus. He has to constantly spend his mana on Arc Lightning just to keep the wave from hitting his tower, which means he has less mana to harass heroes with Lightning Bolt. This resource drain is a huge problem for him all game. If Zeus does try to get aggressive, Keeper of the Light can use Blinding Light to push him away and cause his attacks to miss, completely disrupting his damage. It's a classic battle of attrition, and KotL is built to win it by controlling the map and starving the enemy of resources.

The matchup isn't one-sided, though, because Zeus can end the fight before it really starts. He doesn't need to trade spells back and forth if he can land his full burst combo. A single Lightning Bolt provides vision to cancel an Illuminate channel from the trees, and a well-timed ultimate can pick off a fragile Keeper of the Light from anywhere. The game often comes down to vision and positioning. If Zeus can find an opening, he can one-shot KotL. If not, he'll likely run out of steam against the constant wave pressure and sustain.
