Kez vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Picking a melee duelist into Sniper is always a tough decision, and it's especially hard for Kez. A hero like Kez is built to win a close-quarters fight with parries and counters, but Sniper's whole game is about preventing anyone from ever getting that close. All of Kez’s stance-swapping and fancy footwork doesn't matter if he's getting plinked to death from outside his vision, unable to reach the target. Sniper dictates the fight from a screen away, completely invalidating the tools Kez relies on to get an edge in a one-on-one exchange.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. During the laning stage, Kez struggles to get farm without taking heavy damage. Later on, Kez wants to find pickoffs, but Sniper prefers to stand behind his team and hit buildings. For Kez to have any impact, he needs a perfect initiation from a teammate or a very expensive Blink Dagger timing. Otherwise, he's forced to run at a well-protected Sniper, getting slowed and kited long before he can land a single blow. It becomes Sniper's game to lose, as he can control the positioning of every teamfight.
