Kez vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to duel Spectre as Kez is a losing proposition because of Dispersion. All the damage he needs to pour out to win a one-on-one fight gets reflected back, and she's naturally durable enough to survive his initial burst. Kez’s parry is designed to counter a specific big hit or spell, but a lot of Spectre's damage is constant and passive. There isn't one predictable moment to counter; she wears you down from multiple sources at once, especially with Haunt illusions up.

This dynamic forces the Kez player to try and end the game extremely fast, before Spectre gets her key items. The problem is that Haunt makes this difficult. Spectre can join any fight from across the map, turning a promising gank around and punishing anyone caught alone with Desolate. Ultimately, Spectre doesn't need to interact with Kez directly for most of the game. She can focus on farming and trust that her late-game durability and global presence will overwhelm his single-target focus when the teamfights start happening.
