Kez vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to close the distance on Windranger is a frustrating experience for a melee hero like Kez. His entire dueling kit relies on staying on a target, but Windranger excels at kiting. Windrun makes her physically evasive and fast, forcing him to either buy an MKB or hope his abilities are enough to burst her down. Even if he does commit, a well-aimed Shackleshot can completely turn the tables, leaving him stunned and vulnerable. While Kez’s parry can block some physical damage, it does little to solve the fundamental problem of him not being able to connect with her in the first place.

This dynamic pressures the Kez player all game. In lane, he’s susceptible to her long-range poke from Powershot. Later on, he has to itemize specifically to deal with her, potentially delaying his own power spikes. For Windranger, the plan is simple: stay on the edge of the fight, use Windrun to create space, and punish any overextension. Kez has the damage to win a direct fight if he can force one, but the burden is on him to find that perfect opening, while Windranger can more comfortably control the engagement.
