Kunkka vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Trying to one-shot Spectre with a full Kunkka combo seems like the right play, but it often backfires spectacularly. A significant part of that massive physical and magical burst from Tidebringer and Ghostship gets reflected by Dispersion straight back onto Kunkka and any allies unfortunate enough to be nearby. Kunkka’s greatest strength—his huge area-of-effect damage—becomes his biggest weakness in this matchup. He ends up helping Spectre melt his own backline, turning a perfect setup into a lost fight before it even begins.

This problem only gets worse for Kunkka over time. In the mid-game, his pickoff attempts with X Marks the Spot become incredibly risky, as Spectre can use Haunt to instantly join and punish the gank. Late game, Kunkka is stuck. Using his combo on Spectre can get his own team killed, but holding his spells leaves him with little impact. Spectre completely bypasses Kunkka's attempts to control the frontline, leaving him unable to protect the squishy heroes she inevitably jumps on.
