How this matchup plays

Trying to split-push against a Kunkka feels like you are on a timer. Tinker wants to be all over the map, but X Marks the Spot grounds that entire playstyle. A single touch from Kunkka means Tinker gets pulled back into a guaranteed Ghostship and Torrent combo a few seconds later, no matter where he teleports. This threat forces the Tinker to play with extreme caution, unable to use his mobility as freely as he would like. Kunkka's area control from Torrent and Tidebringer also makes it difficult for Tinker to find a safe spot to channel Rearm during fights.

The laning phase can be a struggle for Kunkka, as Tinker’s Laser can make last-hitting difficult. The matchup often hinges on the mid-game. Once Kunkka has initiation items, he actively hunts Tinker across the map. The game then becomes a battle of vision and positioning. Kunkka needs to land his combo from fog, while Tinker must predict these ganks, secure defensive vision, and potentially buy items to survive the burst. If Tinker can dodge the initial setup, he can still contribute heavily, which keeps the matchup from being one-sided.
