Kunkka vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Dealing with Kunkka’s combo is a matter of timing and cooldowns. Windranger can activate Windrun to completely evade the physical damage from a Tidebringer cleave, but she's still vulnerable to the magic damage and control from Torrent and Ghostship. Kunkka in turn has a hard time finishing her with auto-attacks. While X Marks the Spot can guarantee a target location for his spells, Windranger can simply use Windrun after returning to negate his damage and escape. Both heroes have a direct answer to the other's primary attack plan.

This dynamic creates a standoff that persists for the whole game. In fights, Kunkka is looking to land a big area-of-effect combo, while Windranger is trying to find a key target for Shackleshot. It's difficult for Windranger to burst Kunkka down before he can use his spells and defensive items, and Kunkka himself can't reliably pin down a slippery Windranger. The outcome usually depends on which player baits out the other's crucial abilities first, or which hero's team provides better follow-up.
