How this matchup plays

Dueling a target protected by Lich is a nightmare. His Frost Shield slows Legion Commander's attack speed and reduces her damage output, often making the difference between winning a Duel and feeding away damage. Sinister Gaze can also pull her away from a target before she can even start the fight. The entire dynamic flips, however, if Legion Commander can get her hands on Lich himself. He's a fragile hero with no escape, making him an ideal Duel target if she can successfully flank the fight and find him in the back lines.

The matchup becomes a game of cat and mouse. Legion Commander has to decide whether she can afford to ignore Lich and burst through a shielded core, or if she needs to eliminate him first. For his part, Lich needs to position carefully, staying far enough back to avoid getting initiated on but close enough to save his teammates. The outcome of teamfights often hinges on which of these two heroes can execute their plan first, as a successful Duel on Lich can be as game-winning as a perfectly timed Frost Shield.
