Legion Commander vs Lion

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a Legion Commander can be frustrating for Lion. Both of his main disables, Earth Spike and Hex, are removed by a well-timed Press the Attack. This ability to apply a strong dispel and heal through initial burst makes her a very difficult target for Lion to control on his own. Unless he can chain his spells perfectly with a teammate's, Legion Commander can often shrug off his initiation attempt and immediately threaten him or his allies. This interaction alone often puts Lion on the back foot when trying to set up kills.

Throughout the game, this creates a tense dynamic. Legion Commander will often see Lion as a prime Duel target; he's fragile and can't stop her from initiating on him. A smart Lion player, however, will play patiently from the backline. He knows that once Legion Commander commits Duel to another hero, she can't use Press the Attack on herself. This opens a window for Lion to use his entire kit to burst her down and swing the fight. The outcome often hinges on who gets the jump on whom and whether Duel is used on Lion himself or an ally.
