Legion Commander vs Morphling

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Duel is often the end for Morphling. His core survival mechanic, Morph, is disabled for the duration, leaving him trapped in whatever stats he had when the Duel began. If he was in high agility to deal damage, he won't have the health pool to survive. Legion Commander can often secure the kill herself with Blade Mail and Press the Attack, gaining permanent damage that makes subsequent Duels even more lethal. The lockdown is simply too long and too complete for Morphling's kit to handle on its own.

This dynamic forces Morphling to play a completely different game. Instead of farming aggressively and looking for pickoffs, he has to constantly worry about Legion Commander's position. He's pressured into buying defensive items like Linken's Sphere much earlier than he'd like, slowing down his item progression and reducing his impact. Legion Commander can repeatedly Blink in and force a reaction, dictating the tempo of the mid-game. Unless Morphling gets incredibly far ahead early or his team provides perfect protection, he spends the whole game on the back foot.
