Dueling a lone Shadow Shaman looks tempting, but it’s often a bait. If he sees you coming, a quick Hex or Shackle can stop Legion Commander's initiation cold, leaving her vulnerable for a counter-gank. His Serpent Wards also contribute a surprising amount of damage during a Duel if he can't be killed quickly. On the other hand, a successful Blink-Duel is a death sentence for Shadow Shaman, as he has no way to escape or use his spells once he's locked down. The entire interaction hinges on who gets the drop on the other and whether they have backup waiting.

Across the game, this creates a tense dynamic. Legion Commander wants to control the map by finding pickoffs, and an isolated Shadow Shaman is a prime target to get her damage rolling.
