Picking a slippery core like Storm Spirit often means the enemy team will be looking for a reliable way to lock you down, and Legion Commander offers one of the best tools for the job. Storm's entire survival plan revolves around using Ball Lightning to stay mobile and avoid being held in place. Duel completely ignores that plan. Once it's cast, there is no escape. This forces Storm Spirit into a man-fight he is not equipped for and completely negates his primary strength for its duration, making him an easy target for Legion Commander and her team.

This dynamic shapes the entire mid-game. Once Legion Commander has a Blink Dagger, Storm can no longer safely split-push or initiate on supports.
