Legion Commander vs Templar Assassin

How this matchup plays

Duel presents a nightmare scenario for Templar Assassin. Her defensive model relies on blocking a few instances of damage with Refraction before repositioning, but Duel locks her in place for a sustained fight she cannot win. Legion Commander uses Press the Attack for a huge attack speed boost, burning through Refraction charges very quickly. While Overwhelming Odds only removes a single charge, its real value is softening Templar Assassin up before the Duel begins, especially in a large creep wave where the damage is massive. Once the charges are gone, TA's low health pool is completely exposed.

This dynamic forces the entire game to revolve around Legion Commander's Blink Dagger timing. Once she has it, Templar Assassin can no longer safely farm lanes or jungle, constantly under threat of being initiated on and killed. This pressure severely stunts TA's ability to hit her own item timings. She is forced into buying defensive items she might otherwise skip or playing much more passively, ceding map control. Even with team support, a well-timed Duel can pick Templar Assassin off before any help can arrive, creating a snowball of damage for Legion Commander.
