Lich vs Marci

How this matchup plays

Trying to jump a hero and burst them with Unleash is Marci’s entire game plan. Lich foils this effortlessly from the back lines. A single Frost Shield cast on Marci's target massively reduces her incoming damage and cripples her attack speed, wasting the most important part of her ultimate. Even if she gets on top of someone, the slows from Frost Blast and Chain Frost make it impossible for her to stick to them. Lich doesn't need to lock Marci down directly; he makes her targets so difficult to kill that she becomes ineffective.

This dynamic starts in the lane, where Marci can't create the kill pressure she relies on. As the game progresses, she is forced to buy an early Black King Bar, but even this is a temporary solution. Lich can simply wait out the duration and then use Sinister Gaze to pull her out of position, or let his bouncing Chain Frost disrupt her team's follow-up. For Marci to have an impact, her team first needs to find and eliminate Lich, who is usually positioned far away from the initial chaos she creates.
