Lich vs Night Stalker

How this matchup plays

Slowing down Night Stalker with spells seems like the obvious play, but the reality is more complicated. While Lich’s Frost Shield can be a real nuisance, reducing attack speed and making it harder for Night Stalker to finish a kill, it depends entirely on Lich being able to cast it. A well-timed Crippling Fear from Night Stalker can silence Lich and prevent him from using any of his defensive abilities, leaving a core exposed or Lich himself dead. It becomes a game of who initiates first: the support trying to peel, or the ganker trying to delete a single target before they can react.

This dynamic creates a constant back-and-forth throughout the game. Night Stalker has the advantage during the night, able to hunt and kill a fragile Lich who gets caught out of position. His game plan is to create pressure and pick-offs to build a lead. Lich’s plan is to survive these ganks and reach the teamfight stage, where a good Chain Frost can completely punish Night Stalker for diving into the middle of his team. Success for either hero often comes down to their positioning and which one forces the other to react to their game plan.
