Lich vs Nyx Assassin

How this matchup plays

Catching Lich with Spiked Carapace is the core of this matchup for Nyx Assassin. Using it to reflect Sinister Gaze not only saves an ally but stuns Lich, interrupting his main form of lockdown. It can also negate the initial impact of Chain Frost, making it difficult for Lich to start his ultimate on a key target. On the flip side, Lich's Frost Shield is a great tool for mitigating the burst damage from a Vendetta attack. The damage reduction and slow can be enough to survive the initial assault and allow for a counter-attack, making a solo kill on Lich much harder for Nyx to secure.

This means Nyx often plays a game of cat and mouse, trying to hunt Lich and drain his mana before a fight breaks out. He forces Lich to play from the back lines and be very careful about who he targets. Lich's plan is to stay grouped, use Frost Shield on whoever Nyx is likely to jump, and try to land an ultimate in a chaotic fight where Nyx can’t easily react with his Carapace. It’s a matchup of reactions, and the outcome often depends on which player can bait out the other's defensive ability first.
