How this matchup plays

Thinking Guardian Angel solves all your problems against a Lich is a common trap. The reality is that Lich’s entire kit is magical. Chain Frost and Frost Blast don't care about physical immunity, so even when Omniknight’s ultimate is active, Lich can still inflict his full burst of damage and slows. Frost Shield also continues to reduce attack speed and deal magic damage to anyone inside it, regardless of Guardian Angel’s protection. Lich’s damage output simply sidesteps Omniknight’s signature defensive spell, forcing Omni to find other ways to protect his team from the magical onslaught.

This dynamic means the Omniknight player has to be much more reactive. The main way Omniknight can help is by using Heavenly Grace on a core who gets caught by Sinister Gaze or slowed by Lich's spells. That strong dispel can be crucial for an ally to escape or turn the fight. It becomes a game of timings. If Lich can unload his spells and get a quick kill, his team gains the upper hand. If Omniknight anticipates the focus and purges his ally, he can mitigate the threat and keep his team fighting.
