Lich vs Sven

How this matchup plays

Slowing Sven down is the main problem here. Lich can make it incredibly difficult for Sven to connect with targets using Frost Shield, which provides armor and a slow to whoever Sven is trying to hit. This is often layered with Frost Blast, adding another slow from a distance. A Sven using God's Strength is only effective if he can actually land his attacks, and Lich is very good at making sure he can't, forcing him to burn the duration while kiting on the edge of the fight.

This pressure forces Sven to play more reactively. He often needs to get a Black King Bar earlier than he might want, which can delay his damage progression and slow down his farming speed. The game becomes a timing contest. Lich's team wants to fight and take objectives before that BKB comes online. Once Sven has it, he can often ignore Lich entirely and run straight at the back lines. A well-timed Chain Frost can still punish him for grouping up, but his ability to ignore the slows changes the fight completely.
