How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other often depends more on the rest of the draft than their direct interaction. Tidehunter’s natural tankiness and his Kraken Shell ability make him difficult for Lich to bully or control. The dispel shrugs off the slows from Frost Blast, letting Tidehunter ignore a lot of Lich's harassment and lane pressure. On the other hand, Tidehunter's goal is to group enemies for a big Ravage, which creates the absolute ideal setup for a bouncing Chain Frost. This means Tidehunter’s own best-case scenario is also a perfect opportunity for Lich, creating a fundamental standoff.
