Lifestealer vs Treant Protector

How this matchup plays

Picking a support that relies on lockdown into Lifestealer can be a bit of a gamble. So much of what Treant Protector wants to do—rooting the whole enemy team with Overgrowth or slowing a key target with Leech Seed—is completely nullified by Rage. Lifestealer can activate his magic immunity and walk straight through Treant's most important spells, leaving him unable to peel or control the fight for a crucial few seconds. While the global armor from Living Armor helps allies survive a little longer, it doesn't stop Lifestealer from closing the gap.

In practice, this means Treant Protector has to play a difficult timing game. He can still pressure Lifestealer early in the lane, but once teamfights start, his impact is conditional. A successful Treant has to land his ultimate before Rage comes out, or survive long enough to use it after Rage expires. Lifestealer, on the other hand, gets to dictate the terms of engagement more often, knowing he has a clean way to bypass one of his main obstacles. It puts the pressure on the Treant to be reactive, giving Lifestealer a small but consistent advantage.
