How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other often feels like a pure skill contest. Both Lina and Lion are fragile casters who want to do the exact same thing: land a disable and unload their spells to delete one target. Lion’s advantage comes from having instant lockdown with Hex, which can guarantee he gets his full combo off. Lina has to land a delayed stun, but she has superior range and faster farming speed, letting her get key items sooner. Their ultimates are functionally similar in a one-on-one duel, so it really comes down to who gets the jump and executes their spell sequence first.

This dynamic means the matchup revolves around vision and initiation. Whoever spots the other out of position usually wins the exchange. A Lion with a Blink Dagger is a constant threat to a solo Lina, able to appear and lock her down before she can react. Conversely, if Lina anticipates the gank, a Black King Bar or even a well-timed Light Strike Array can turn the tables completely. She can often survive his initial burst and then run him down with her attack speed. It’s a constant duel of positioning, map awareness, and reaction time.
