How this matchup plays

Farming with Moon Glaives gives Luna a direct path to the items she needs to survive, particularly a Black King Bar. This creates a clear race against the clock for Lina. For a huge portion of the game, Lina’s spell combo of Light Strike Array and Laguna Blade can instantly delete a fragile hero like Luna. If Lina can find Luna before she has defensive items, it’s a simple kill. But every minute Luna is left to farm brings her closer to being able to completely ignore Lina’s magic damage.

The game's tempo revolves around this dynamic. Lina and her team will want to play aggressively, forcing fights and hunting for pickoffs on Luna to slow her farm. Luna’s team has to play protect-the-carry, creating space and avoiding bad engagements until she comes online. If the game goes late, a farmed Luna with BKB and other damage items can run at Lina without fear. At that point, Lina loses her main advantage and has a much harder time contributing to fights against the enemy carry.
