Lina vs Magnus

How this matchup plays

Catching Lina is the whole game for Magnus. His plan revolves around closing the distance with Skewer or a Blink Dagger to land Reverse Polarity. If he succeeds, Lina's low health pool means she is almost certainly dead. However, her long attack range and high spell damage allow her to keep him at a distance. Her own stun, Light Strike Array, is often too slow and telegraphed to reliably catch a Magnus who can Skewer away from the animation, making it more of a defensive tool here.

The dynamic hinges on which player dictates the engagement. A successful initiation from Magnus can decide a teamfight, but if he fails to catch Lina, he's left vulnerable and exposed in the middle of the fight. She can melt him from afar if her team can protect her position. It becomes a trade of big cooldowns and positioning, where neither hero has a consistent advantage. Both heroes need their team to enable their specific game plan, and a misstep from either side can hand the fight to the opponent.
