Lina vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a full combo on Phantom Assassin often feels impossible for Lina. Phantom Assassin can instantly close the gap with Phantom Strike, forcing a reaction before Lina can even get her stun off. The entire matchup hinges on a Black King Bar timing; once PA gets one, Lina's magical burst is completely negated. This leaves Lina as a fragile target with no escape mechanism. Even if Lina tries to fight back with auto-attacks, PA's passive evasion from Blur makes her a difficult target to bring down before she lands her own critical strikes.

The game starts with Lina having the upper hand, using her superior range and spell damage to harass and control the lane. But this advantage is temporary. As soon as Phantom Assassin acquires her core items, particularly a BKB, she begins to actively hunt Lina across the map. A well-played PA will use the map's cover to find an angle, blink in, and eliminate Lina before she can contribute to a fight. Lina is forced into a defensive build, buying items like a Ghost Scepter or relying heavily on her team's saves to survive the engagement.
