Lina vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Catching a Lina out of position is the entire game plan for Shadow Shaman. His instant-cast Hex gives her absolutely no time to react with an item or spell before being disabled. This is often followed by Shackles, a long-duration lockdown that leaves the fragile Lina completely helpless against follow-up damage from Shaman’s team. While Lina has a stun of her own with Light Strike Array, its cast delay makes it far too unreliable to stop a Shadow Shaman who initiates with a Blink Dagger. Her entire high-damage, low-survivability kit is fundamentally countered by his ability to instantly pinpoint and disable a single target.

This dynamic shapes every teamfight from the mid-game onward. Shadow Shaman's primary job becomes finding and eliminating Lina before she can unload her spells and attacks. This forces the Lina player into a difficult choice: play far back and have limited impact, or risk moving forward and getting instantly deleted. Building a Black King Bar is essential for Lina, but a patient Shaman can simply wait for its duration to end. His Mass Serpent Ward can also be used to zone her out, controlling her position and making it even easier to catch her when she tries to clear them.
