Lion vs Marci

How this matchup plays

Trying to make a play with Marci often feels difficult when there's a Lion on the other team. Her entire game plan revolves around getting in close for a Dispose, but Lion's instant Hex or Earth Spike can interrupt her before she can act. This makes initiating on his team very risky. Lion can also punish a failed attempt by using Mana Drain from a safe distance, keeping Marci low on resources and slowing down the pace she wants to set across the map.

As the game progresses, Lion can simply play behind his cores, waiting to react to Marci's aggression. This forces the Marci player to be more selective with targets, often needing to buy a Black King Bar sooner than planned. Marci’s best bet is to find and burst Lion before he can get his spells off, or wait for him to use them on someone else. The matchup is a constant cat-and-mouse game, but Lion’s reactive kit gives him a slight upper hand in teamfights.
