How this matchup plays

It might seem like Lion’s chain-disable and burst should have an easy time picking off a key target. The reality is that Omniknight’s defensive spells are almost purpose-built to foil that plan. A well-timed Heavenly Grace provides a strong dispel, capable of instantly removing Lion’s initial stun and giving the target enough resistance to survive the follow-up. While Finger of Death is still a huge threat, Omniknight’s healing can often keep a hero out of lethal range. Guardian Angel also prevents any physical-damage cores from contributing to the burst, frequently leaving Lion’s target alive when they should be dead.

The lane and later teamfights become a tense game of cooldowns and positioning. Lion’s win condition is catching Omniknight himself out of position or baiting out Heavenly Grace on a secondary target before committing Hex and Finger on his real priority. For the Omniknight player, success is about staying back, maintaining vision, and having the reflexes to save his carry. Because the entire fight can swing based on a single dispel or a successful smoke gank, neither hero has a truly consistent advantage over the other. It often comes down to who makes the first mistake.
