How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down Slark with Lion often feels like it should be easy, but it's a classic bait. A well-timed Dark Pact purges Earth Spike completely, allowing Slark to either escape or immediately turn and fight. Hex is Lion's real tool here, but it requires him to be in position, and Slark can often anticipate it. Even a full Finger of Death isn't a guaranteed kill, as Slark can survive the burst with Shadow Dance or simply by having built up enough Essence Shift stacks to be durable. Lion has the lockdown, but Slark has the specific answers.

The entire game becomes a matter of who gets the jump on whom. Slark excels at finding and deleting isolated supports, and Lion is a prime target. For Lion to succeed, he needs to play from the fog, have good team positioning, and use his spells reactively. If Slark pounces on a different core, a follow-up Hex from Lion can be devastating. But if Slark finds Lion first, the fight is usually over before it begins. The matchup hinges entirely on vision, positioning, and which player can force the other to react first.
