Lion vs Tiny

How this matchup plays

Stopping Tiny's Avalanche-Toss combo is the main story here. Lion has two quick, reliable disables in Hex and Earth Spike that can interrupt Tiny before he executes his burst. Because Tiny is so dependent on landing that initial volley of spells to delete a hero, getting locked down for even a moment can completely ruin his initiation. On top of that, Tiny's small mana pool is a constant problem for him, and Lion's Mana Drain directly attacks this weakness, leaving him without the resources to cast his combo even if he finds an opening.

This dynamic forces the matchup into a game of initiation. If Tiny gets the jump with a Blink Dagger, a fragile hero like Lion will often die before he can cast a spell. To counter this, Lion has to position carefully and play reactively. Once Tiny commits to a target, Lion can punish him from the back lines. The fight often comes down to whether Tiny has a Black King Bar to ignore the control. Since Lion can usually get his own Blink Dagger first and start controlling teamfights before Tiny can afford BKB, he tends to have a slight advantage in setting the tempo.
