Lion vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can chain-disable an Ursa with Lion is a common trap. On paper, Lion has everything you'd want: Hex and Earth Spike to stop Ursa from building up his Fury Swipes stacks and running away. The problem is Ursa's Enrage, which provides a strong dispel and massive status resistance. If Ursa can pop his ultimate before or during the first disable, he can shrug off the control much faster than you'd expect. This turns the engagement into a high-stakes duel of cooldowns and reaction time, which Lion doesn't always win.

Early ganks from Lion can be effective before Ursa gets his ultimate, and Mana Drain can be a nuisance. But once Enrage is online, the dynamic changes. Ursa often makes it his mission to find and eliminate Lion at the start of a fight, removing the primary source of control against him. This forces Lion into a more reactive role, using his spells to peel for teammates rather than to initiate on the bear. A well-timed Blink Dagger can give Lion the jump, but an early Black King Bar on Ursa can neutralize that advantage entirely.
