Lone Druid vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Deciding whether to pick one of these heroes into the other often comes down to trusting your team's execution over the opponent's. Shadow Shaman has the ideal toolkit for locking down a single, high-priority target with Hex and Shackles. The problem is that Lone Druid always brings two. If Shaman disables the Spirit Bear, the hero is free to attack; if he disables the hero, the bear will finish him off. This tension is why they work so well on the same team but often trade evenly when opposed.

The matchup is a constant battle for positioning and initiation. A successful gank by Shadow Shaman can shut down Lone Druid’s momentum by killing the bear or forcing the hero back to base. Later on, Lone Druid wants to siege objectives, but pushing into Mass Serpent Ward is a huge risk for the Spirit Bear. Fights are decided by who gets caught first. If the bear gets on top of Shadow Shaman, the fight is over quickly. If Shaman and his team catch either the hero or the bear out of position, they can secure a kill before Lone Druid can react.
