How this matchup plays

Struggling to find safe farm is the main issue for Luna in this matchup. A good Clockwerk will constantly look for opportunities to use Hookshot and isolate her from her team. Getting trapped in Power Cogs with no escape usually means a quick death, especially before Luna has any defensive items. This forces her to play much more cautiously, slowing down her item progression and limiting her ability to pressure lanes. Clockwerk's entire purpose is to punish heroes who are out of position, and Luna often needs to split off from her team to accelerate her farm with Moon Glaives.

The game often comes down to a race for a key item timing. Before Luna gets a Black King Bar, Clockwerk has a major advantage and can dictate the tempo of fights. He can pick her off to start an engagement or prevent her from joining one. Once Luna has her BKB, however, the dynamic can flip. If Clockwerk initiates on a Luna who can activate her BKB, he is the one who is suddenly out of position and vulnerable to her high physical damage and a potential Eclipse. Success depends on which hero's team can better enable their powerspike.
