Luna vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Trying to survive Sand King's initiation is the main challenge for Luna. A well-placed Burrowstrike into a full Epicenter can delete Luna before she can react, especially during the mid-game when Sand King hits his Blink Dagger timing. However, this entire dynamic hinges on a single item. Once Luna acquires a Black King Bar, she can shrug off Sand King's entire magical combo and turn on him. He's not a particularly durable hero, and Luna's physical damage from Moon Glaives, especially with some attack speed, can bring him down quickly if he can't get away.

The matchup often comes down to a race. Sand King's team wants to create pressure and find pickoffs on Luna, delaying her farm and preventing her from getting that crucial BKB. If he can repeatedly catch her out of position, his team can snowball the advantage. The Luna player, on the other hand, needs to prioritize safe farming and have good map awareness. Once she has her core items, she can start dictating the pace of fights, forcing Sand King to either find a different target or risk getting completely nullified and run down.
