Luna vs Skywrath Mage

How this matchup plays

Playing against a Skywrath Mage often feels like a race against the clock for Luna. The threat comes from Skywrath's ability to lock a target down with a silence and unload a massive amount of magic damage with Mystic Flare. A fragile carry like Luna can be deleted from the map before she can even use her own ultimate or escape, especially in the early and mid game. However, Luna's fast farming from Moon Glaives lets her aim for a quick Black King Bar. Once she has spell immunity, Skywrath Mage has almost no way to damage her, completely flipping the dynamic of a one-on-one confrontation.

The matchup often comes down to which team can better enable their hero's game plan. Skywrath's team wants to create pressure and find pickoffs on Luna to slow her item progression. Luna's team needs to provide vision and create space for her to farm safely until she gets that critical BKB. After that timing, Luna can confidently lead the charge, forcing Skywrath into a purely defensive position at the back of the fight. The game is a constant back-and-forth of these two competing windows of power.
