How this matchup plays

Controlling the pace of the game is the central conflict here. Warlock excels at slowing things down and forcing grouped teamfights where Fatal Bonds can punish Luna’s Moon Glaives, making her own farm-clearing ability a liability. A well-placed Upheaval can also completely neutralise her mobility, leaving her stuck in place for an easy kill. Luna’s plan is the opposite: she wants to farm fast, split the map, and find pickoffs. A surprise Eclipse can delete Warlock before he contributes anything, and her high physical damage lets her shred through a Golem if she isn't stunned by its landing.

The matchup often hinges on which hero gets to dictate the engagement. If Warlock’s team can force a fight around an objective, his Chaotic Offering provides the setup to lock Luna down, even through her Black King Bar. Luna’s side needs to play more carefully, looking to catch Warlock out of position or waiting for his ultimate to be used before committing to a fight. Since both heroes have clear ways to counter the other’s game plan, success usually comes down to positioning and timing from the wider teams, leaving neither with a distinct advantage.
